Foley Artist (35K -75K+) - match live sound effects with the action of the film. Foleying is an excellent means of supplying the subtle sound that the mics miss.

Personal traits - perseverance, creative, serious worker, friendly, enjoy working.
Pros- Growing field, skills in demand, varying projects, good pay
Cons - competitive, not lucrative at first, hard work, fast pace, and slow in seasons

This is a good fit for me. I believe because I enjoy making and creating sound I would come out of my comfort zone and explore different option besides music. It seems fun and adventurous.

Film Sound - Sound Editor
A sound editor is responsible for selecting and assembling sound recordings in preparation for the final sound mixing for a film. Sound editors clean up dialogue tracks, cut layers of special effects, place sounds at certain times, they create ambiance tracks by cutting out unwanted stuff and mixing in interesting or necessary sounds.
Dialogue, effects, and music are the three main parts the editor focuses on. Depending in the size of the production the sound editor can concentrate in one area or all. They are expected to know how to handle it all. They are also expected to work long hours as well. Sound Editors must be computer literate and have a good knowledge in sound recording, playback, editing and mixing equipment, excellent hearing and a good sense of timing, attention to detail and good communication skills.
I think this is a good fit career for me because I already have an interest in working in the film industry. Editing in audio for film what I wanted to do when it comes to audio.

Foley Artist - Recreates sound effects for film, television shows, and video games.
2. A summary of the pros and cons, personal traits necessary for success, entry-level requirements, etc.
Pros - Makes $35k - $80k a year! or $400 a day! or Makes at least $17.73 an hour, Making lot's of noises experimenting with items and utilities for effects to use in films, tv, etc. Travel and work in many fields in the Television, Film, or even gaming and Radio!
Cons - Long hours trying to come up with an effect not working out. Pretty stressful and high pressured environment. Can get soar depending on what your doing for so many hours and times.

This Career is a perfect fit! Not only would I have to do Mental activities (Recording, Mixing) but also physical (Making sound effects happen with movement, etc.)

Week 8 industry report The sound for picture market
1. The name and brief description of the career option.
The Sound for Picture Market – I will be writing this industry report on being a foley artist. The foley artist is considered to have one of the most unique jobs in the movie sound making market. The main goal of a foley artist is to create sound effects that are not able to be sourced via through sources or any form of sound design market. It is upto the foley artist to create an original sound of his own using any product he can find to satisfy his boss and clients. An example would be watching a protagonist beheading a antagonist and the foley artist would create that head chopping sound by slicing a watermelon at the same time and recording to make viewers believe that a head has been chopped off like it happened in real life. Another example would be a part in a movie where bunch of people fighting in a scene and the director captures a particular blow a another character’s body and the foley artist’s job is to create that event using an everyday object and make it believable that the viewer who is watching that scene just took the nastiest blow to the individual’s body. It is a demanding job according to Jeff Touzeau, the author of ‘Careers In Audio.’ In order to be a foley artist, you must have two very specific talent: quality and timing. The quality he is referring to is capturing the right sound to the event that is taking place on the movie. The timing is referring to the moment the event or the scene is taking place is consistent with your sound effect. Foley Artist makes approximately $35k to $75k a year depending on the individual’s talent.
Aside from being a foley artist, in the movie sound market, there are other jobs such as : ADR Recordist, a person that is in charge creating the same environment and scene and dialogue in a whole new environment without the unnecessary sound and noises. Editor, another form of movie sound market jobs, is a person who documents, organize, and archive footage to be easily accessible. Another is the Mixer, who mixes sound for picture, and lastly the composer, who creates music for the movie.

Due to the high demand, the job can be gratifying after you met your demands. But on the other hand, you might be working on a boring film or television show. Which means, you are stuck with your daily boring job. The hours are normally erratic and you are still in a very competitive market. Even though demands for these jobs are there, it is still one of those jobs where money and promotions doesn’t come until years. If you want to join the club of being in his imaginative career, try going to school in music engineering. It is a good idea to work for music studio company or music production company. You can also goto full sail college in florida according to the author because one of the people interviewed is a guy from full sail college.

I do not see myself doing this kind of work. I think my talent doesn’t have the ears to create the sound by looking at pictures.

The Career option I chose was Field recording Group, who are the sound technicians who record the surroundings and the backgrounds in case of an inaudible movie clip or for a more realistic sound for an event in the movie. Just record the ambiance of environments to place into movie backgrounds.
2. A summary of the pros and cons, personal traits necessary for success, entry-level requirements, etc.
Pro's- Traveling, sights and experiences to visit, Time investment isn't always as bad.
Con's- Not as much participation, equipment traveling, cooperation isn't always done, setting locating, results aren't always promised.
Requirements- Knowledge of mic set up's and equipment, ability to work with people, patience.
Pay rate- Around $40K(couldn't find it, sorry!)

This career could be for me. I could see myself doing it, just wandering an environment and appreciating my surroundings, carrying around equipment and mastering the sounds after. It's all good stuff. I really like it and could get into it. Really got me looking into Foley as well.

1. The film industry is a very solid and profitable industry. There are many ways that you can make it or break it in this industry. The audio side of the film industry is getting more and more competitive. Only by hard work and creativity will you be able to shine. A career option in this industry is the Foley artist. The Foley artist is responsible for all the sounds such as footsteps, gunshots, and all the other sounds that are in a movie. You would never realize how much work is involved in this career until you realize that they do a lot of sound for the film. Their hard work gets paid 35k-75k+ in a year.
2. This job can be a very rewarding one if you can be creative. The pros to this is that there are no guidelines to what you can do to make a sound. Whether making a sound from scratch or just changing the pitch of an existing sound, the artist has to make it around a s believable as possible. Some of the cons in this career is that it is a lot of laborious work. You will find yourself getting bumps and bruises in order to get a sound. It also can be difficult sometimes if you are not creative.
3. This career seems like a fun and creative job. I think that i can do this job because it seems exciting and creative.

b. Composers are often times arrangers and may have the task of doing both for one particular film or collaborate .
c. In some cases arrangers get paid more, that is if the arrangement is already an acclaimed piece of music

a. Yes for me. Composers are constantly scoring music or arranging many songs that they or someone else has done. Most composers have some many unfinished ideas that they can put a score together very quickly and spend more time finding professional musicians to bring the score to life. This in turn will bring the film to life and or create an experience for the viewer
